OFFICERS' LEGAL PROTECTION

HOW CAN YOU LOOK AFTER SAMANTHA?
This is Samantha. She is a Constable who has recently taken her Sergeant exams and is seen as a rising star in her Force.
After a night out with friends she is shocked to learn from her investigating officers that she has been accused of a criminal offence and could face serious disciplinary action that would have a devastating impact on her career prospects. Samantha knows she wasn’t involved in any incident and that this is a case of mistaken identity.
However, because allegations have been made against her, the Force has served her with a Regulation 17 Notice and an investigation into gross misconduct started.
As the alleged incident happened while Samantha was off duty she has access to her local Police Federation branch’s Officers’ Legal Protection service. This means she has access to a panel of experienced specialist Solicitors approved and trusted by her Federation to provide representation at disciplinary hearings as well as cover for legal costs incurred in defending criminal matters and contributions to Legal Aid.
Without the support of Officers’ Legal Protection Samantha would have to find and pay for private legal representation herself.

Officers’ Legal Protection also provides cover for legal and advisers’ costs and specialist support and extensive information in the pursuit or defence of claims in a range of matters and advice for Police Federation members and their families.
Officers’ Legal Protection offers:-
Up to £100,000 limits on legal and advisers’ fees across broad areas of cover.
24/7 access to specialist, Federations approved legal representation.
Legal and Tax and Lifestyle Counselling Helplines and comprehensive online support.
A dedicated Legal Assistance Hub providing interactive legal documents and resources, guidance and information on a broad range of legal matters.
